• History

The founders had the idea of creating a company specialized in producing and selling single-use devices for the health care sector. UM was established on 1994 in a neighborhood called Laureles in Medellin city, under the name of “Union Medical S.A.”. UM started manufacturing and commercializing nurse and doctor medical caps, shoe covers, Surgeon/Patient Gowns, as well as selling Non-woven fabrics to other industries in the country.
After some years, a new headquarters office was founded in Bogota, to manage the needs of the health care sector.

In the year 2003, was created a new company called “UM International” to commercialize complementary products to the existing product lines in Colombia, such as gloves and masks. This coming year we will be establishing new offices in Cali, coffee zone and Panama.

Then in 2007 UM started a process of quality management program and was certified ISO 9001:2000.  That same year a brand new aseptic room for the production of surgical packs was built, meeting all international standards, aiming to consolidate its leadership in Colombia, Ecuador and Central America, with its line of surgical packs.

To be the leaders of the surgical and medical single-use supplies Colombian market and consolidate as manufacturers and traders in Latin American market by the year 2016.  This will be achieved by keeping the leadership due to our qualified staff, our infrastructure, the high quality of the products we offer and the service provided to our clients.
